Thanksgiving Recap

I woke up with a nasty stomach bug Wednesday morning that hot worse, not better on Thanksgiving. So I stayed home on Thanksgiving while Scott and Juliana went to Nana and Papa's house for Thanksgiving dinner. I eventually managed an apple before going to bed Thursday night.

Nonni was battling the same stomach flu so they didn't have their Thanksgiving dinner either. So she cooked on Friday and we headed over there for dinner. I didn't eat a lot of food, but it was yummy - I was so happy not to miss Thanksgiving completely! Juliana and Scott lounged on the couch after dinner and then Juliana spent the night so I could sleep in today :)

Winter Accessories

At one point in the afternoon yesterday, Juliana was being very quiet. This is usually cause for concern. However, when I rounded the corner I found her wearing her winter hat and one glove and intently focused on getting the second glove on. Soon after I took these pictures, I came back to find that she had added her snow boots to the ensemble. She wandered around the house this way for a while and then discarded the boots in favor of mine and then scattered all of the accessories around the downstairs.

Baking Cookies

I attended a gathering of Pittsburgh Blogger Moms yesterday (it was nice to meet all of you!) and we had a cookie swap. Scott and Juliana did most of the cookie baking while I provided some brief supervision. Juliana loves to stand on a chair and help with the measuring and stirring, Daddy wasn't brave enough to let her add the eggs. In the first picture, she is rotating her arms to show how the mixer turns. Note the shoes - they are her summer dress shoes - too small, but that's what she wanted to wear with her pjs for baking...she did agree to remove the pink tutu prior to baking so it would not get dirty.

Day at the Museum

Juliana's school was closed for a few days this week, so Scott took the opportunity to "educate" Juliana at The Carnegie Museum. She really liked the dinosaurs, but liked playing archeologist even more.
Are there more digs in her future?

Halloween 2008

Juliana had a busy and fun halloween. She wore a Snow White costume (from the dress-up bin) to school in the morning and they had a busy day which included - carving a pumpkin and cooking the seeds, decorating smaller individual pumpkins, a costume parade through the school, an ice cream sundae party, art projects and other fun. She came home wound-up and ready for more.

For trick-or-treating she wore the Jasmine costume that we purchased at Disney World last year - I added a clip to the back of the pants to keep them up, other than that they fit fine. We did add a long-sleeve shirt underneath - it was a wam evening, but not warm enough for an exposed little belly.

She insisted on silver sparkle shoes for trick-or-treating, but they only lasted a few houses - she would run from the sidewalk to the front door and lose the shoes along the way, and keep running. So she walked in her tights for a while until we finished the block and walked back to the house to change into more street-worthy shoes and dump the first load of candy. We spent about an hour trick-or-treating and she was getting tired of walking so we went home, had a lollypop and went to bed.
