Leaves and a Box

Scott had some valuable assistance raking leaves last week. Juliana loves to help with the leaves and of course jump in the big pile.

Juliana received a birthday package in the mail this week (Thanks Francina!) and of course had lots of fun playing in the box.

Today is Juliana's 3rd Birthday! We took some pictures in her birthday dress on Sunday, she was much more happy to have her picture taken in the fairy costume.

Beach Vacation part10

Nick and Becky arrived late Thursday night and Juliana was soooo excited to see her Uncle Nick first thing Friday morning. They went out on the deck together and them he helped her with puzzles.

The surf was high and there was too much wind to go to the beach on Friday. But Grandma Julie took Juliana for a walk to the edge of the sand.

Saturday morning Nonni, G, Grandma Julie and Juliana headed back to Pittsburgh. That allowed the rest of us to get the house cleaned up and be ready to leave early Sunday morning. Before leaving there was time for a some ring-around-the-rosie.

Beach Vacation part9

Thursday was one of the best weather days of the week, although still windy, the sun was shining. Juliana went on an adventure with Nana and Papa to start the day. So mom, Grandma Julie and I went to the Corolla lighthouse and out to lunch. Mom and I climbed the steps all the way to the top for a beautiful view.

Then we met up with everyone else at the beach. Juliana only enjoyed knocking down sandcastles, not building them. Scott was the official builder and then did his best to prevent Juliana from destroying his work.

Beach Vacation part8

After a quick dip in the Ocean, Juliana was snuggled dry by Nana and then they went on a short walk.

Beach Vacation part7

Wednesday was another gloomy day and very windy. We spent the most of the morning inside. One of the new toys that I packed for the trip was Leo's Baton from the Little Einsteins; Juliana referred to it as her "caton" - I think a combination of conduct and baton. She loved all of the open space in the great room to run was she was conducting (the music plays as you wave it around.

What to do at the beach on a windy day? Fly a kit of course.

Beach Vacation part6

Tuesday was a grey and rainy day, so Scott, Nonni, Grandma Julie, Juliana and I headed out for some sightseeing. We drove to Roanoke to visit the National Park for the "Lost Civilization of Roanoke". While we were walking though the museum, Juliana saw pictures depicting the elaborate dresses worn by women of that time and yelled - "It's Cinderella" - which sent a ripple of laughter through those in the room.

Then we headed back North and stopped for lunch (after stopping for salt water taffy). After lunch we went to the Wright Brother's Memorial. We walked through the exhibit and then headed outside to the area of the first flight. Scott took Juliana for a flight along the path.

Beach Vacation part5

On Monday, Nana and Papa arrived at the beach. After settling in, they headed to the beach to play.
