Tricycle

We bought Juliana's first "bike" this weekend - a Radio Flyer Tricycle. Scott put it together Saturday night and we left it in the basement until after her nap Sunday afternoon.

I took her outside and Scott brought the trike outside - she was so excited when she saw it and went running down the sidewalk and climbed up on the seat with a big smile.

Scott pushed her up and down the street. When the steering handle is locked in place, she rides with her feet on the pedals and the pedals don't turn.

She quickly learned how to ring the bell!

A New Notes from the Past Few Days

As we were packing up for daycare Friday morning, she found one of her food bowls and insisted that she take it with her. She held it all the way to daycare and was upset when we left it in the Jeep. When I picked her up, she started asking for the bowl as soon as she saw the Jeep and held it tight the whole way home. Then she eagerly sat in her high chair and ate watermelon out of the bowl.

When I dropped her off at daycare, I noticed that she had been moved to a different highchair. Upon inquiring I found out that she had learned how to climb out of the other highchair.

When we are outside and she hears an airplane, she points at the sky and says, "Big Jet", as in Big Jet from the Little Einsteins.

Friday evening we were driving home and she took off her shoe and threw it toward the radio and turned the music back on.

She is starting to get jealous when I have anything on my lap. I was folding laundry on Saturday and she pushed the folded clothes off my lap so she could climb up. This morning I was reading a book and she grabbed it and tried to pull it away so she could sit on my lap and read her book.

Taking Care of Bitty

Juliana is started to get very interested in baby dolls and stuffed animals.

She is now sleeping with several stuffed animals with her in her crib - she hugs them when we put her to bed.

She spends lots of time with her Bitty Baby - she carries her around, puts her in the stroller and pushes Bitty around the house, she likes to play "Nite-Nite Baby - cover her up and put her on the back. She also gives Bitty a bottle, although she is confused about why nothing comes out of the bottle.

Why do the Cheapest Toys Become Favorites

We bought this stack of bowls at IKEA for $1.00. They have become one of her favorite toys. She stacks and unstacks them; fills them with puzzle pieces and then dumps them out on the floor or into another bowl; adds ping pong balls and stirs them with a mixing spoon...endless fun with a stack of plastic bowls.

Using a Spoon and Miss Independent

Juliana has started to use a spoon to feed herself foods like yogurt and applesauce. She eats really well for a while and then remembers that it is fun to dump spoonfuls of food on the tray and smear it with her fingers - that usually ends the meal. Of course taking the bowl and spoon away produces a tantrum because she doesn't think that she was done...these pictures are from Saturday morning breakfast - yogurt and waffle.

Juliana is starting to become quite independent - she knows what she wants and isn't happy if she doesn't get it. If you try to give her something she doesn't want she pushes it away and yells, "No, No, No". No is a word we are hearing a lot recently.
For example, now that she has decided it is fun to feed herself with a spoon, no one else is allowed to feed her. Eating a small container of yogurt now takes much longer...

Toddler Time

Juliana has finished her transition from "Lullaby Level" to "Toddler Time" (18 - 36 months) at daycare. This is the first week that she has been with the toddlers all day and she is doing great!
Wednesday was backwards day - clothes on backwards...I wanted to get a few quick pictures before we left in the morning. And its a good thing that I took pictures in the morning, because she is coming home very dirty now that they are playing outside everyday...

While I was taking pictures, Kwoan walked through the hallway (he likes to hog the spotlight). I told her to give the kitty a kiss and here is the result. So Cute!

Size 5.5 Shoes

The size 5 shoes are getting snug and size 6 is still too big so we have upgraded to 5-1/2. She has limited options in this size - just tennis shoes, black play shoes and white dress-up shoes.

This weekend she was wearing the tennis shoes which are gray and pink and I realized they are very similar to a favorite pair of mine!
