3rd of July

We go to a 3rd of July party every year at Aunt Natalae's house. And Juliana always has a festive holiday outfit for the occasion. This year's ensemble included sparkles, tie-die and glitter coated flip flops! She loved the flip flops and refered to them as her July shoes (short for 4th of July). She did well with them until she got running too fast and then we she would run right out of them.

I have been going through all of the winter stuff from previous seasons to put away items that are too small. The bin of gloves and hats was too much for Juliana to resist. She had to add a hat and mismatched gloves.

Crocs

Juliana dragged her crocs out to wear and instead of a matching pair, she selected one pink and one black - both right shoes as well. She is so into having her clothes, socks, shoes, everything matching these days. But in this situation she was quite happy with 2 right shoes.

I Do It - Shiny Shoes

Juliana likes to take her shoes off - in the car, in her high chair, in the shopping cart, and when she is sitting on the floor to play with toys - and the socks usually come off as well. But she can put them on herself and she puts each one on the correct foot.

One morning this week, she kept telling me that she wanted to wear her "tiny shoes". Then she pointed at the shoes that she wanted and apparently she had been saying "shiny shoes".

She can count to 10 herself, although she usually skips #4.

She can say the alphabet, strong though the letter P, and then she sometimes she becomes distracted and quits at that point.

Juliana is 2

Juliana has wanted to wear her purple birthday dress since we first hung it in the closet - she has asked to wear it almost every day. So she was very excited that today was the day. We took a lot of pictures this morning - many with a pouty or crying birthday girl...here are some of the happy ones.

It's not just mommy's shoes that Juliana likes to wear - she is eager to remove her shoes if she finds a pair that someone else removed or sees another pair of her shoes.

Mama's Shoes

We had just walked in the house from work/daycare. I took off my shoes and left them by the door. A few minutes later, Juliana walked in the room with my shoes on over her shoes. She walked all around the room and was so pleased with herself.

At daycare she is constantly being reminded to leave her shoes on - so whenever we take our shoes off at home, she picks them up and brings them to us and says "shoes on" or "mama's shoes" or "daddy's shoes".

Size 5.5 Shoes

The size 5 shoes are getting snug and size 6 is still too big so we have upgraded to 5-1/2. She has limited options in this size - just tennis shoes, black play shoes and white dress-up shoes.

This weekend she was wearing the tennis shoes which are gray and pink and I realized they are very similar to a favorite pair of mine!
