Phone Conversation with Daddy

Juliana, my mom and I were on our way home from Target and Eat-n-Park. Scott called to tell Juliana goodnight since he wasn't going to be home before her bedtime. I handed the phone back to Juliana and this is what I heard on our side of the conversation.

Hi Daddy!

I love you! I love you all the way to the moon and the clouds.

Daddy, where are you?

Are you in South America? oh, are you at Cinderella's castle?

You need to talk louder, are you in the car? Are you driving in front of us? Are you close to us? Can you see me?

When will you be home?

ok, bye Daddy. WAIT...are you still there? Daddy can you still hear me? oh, ok bye.

Playing in the Snow

Last Sunday we had a yard full of snow and the temperature went up to a reasonable number so we could go outside and enjoy it. Juliana built piles of snow and then kicked them over, shoveled and raked, ran in circles, made a snow angel and overall just enjoyed being outside playing in the snow.

Talking before bed

Juliana generally has interesting tidbits to share before bed and tonight was no exception.

When asked about school today, she shared this: "We talked about the Lombardi trophy, it has a football on top."

When I told her is was time to get into her bed: "I want to rock until the Steelers win the Super Bowl"

Hopefully she is drifting off to sleep with happy Steelers dreams :)

The Sibling Program

Scott and I took Juliana to Magee Hospital for the sibling program. The program is designed to introduce younger childen to the hospital so they know what to expect when Mommy goes to the hospital. It included a visit to see newborn babies in the nursery, going to a hospital room like the one where Mommy will stay (and explaining that Mommy sleeps at the hospital for a few days while you are sleeping in your own bed at home), and practicing diapering and feeding a baby doll.

Juliana could have spent hours staring in the nursery window at the new babies; we had to drag her away. Whenever she looks at her baby pictures, she always asks, "where is Juliana's mommy?" I always explain that I am taking the picture, but that explanation never seems to satisfy her. So it shoud come as no suprise that when we walked up to the nursery window her first question was, "where are those babies mommies?" We explained that they were resting in their rooms and the nurses were watching the babies.

When we parked the car and were walking up to the hospital we told her that this is where she came out of mommy's belly. She found this very interesting, but told us that she didn't want to do that again...she would rather stay big :)

The Big Girl Bed

Juliana is now sleeping in a Big Girl Bed. She was so happy in her crib that we were in no hurry to make this transition. But we did want to make the change a few months before the twins arrive. It seems that she was ready, she has been to visit her crib in the room that will belong to the twins, and doesn't even miss her crib music - although she has gone into the other room to turn it on a few times and had told me that she will show her brothers how it works :)

We purchased a nite-lite called the good night lite. It is a behavioral tool that shows a moon during the sleeping hours and turns to a sun when the set wake-up time is reached to signify that it is ok to get out of bed. So far it seems to be working well. The first morning (Saturday) she told me that the moon was on for so long; by today she didn't get out of bed until 15 minutes after the sun came on. So far so good.

And the bed...purchased by Nonni and G...not just any bed - it's an elaborate princess bed. It came with components to raise it to loft height so there will be a play area/desk space below at some point. And there is also a slide that can be added...eventually. Once it is at loft height, there is a turret that can be added as well. Here are some pictures from last Friday when it arrived.

Christmas Day

We spent the afternoon with Scott's family: Nana and Papa, Sean, Amy, Jake, Sara, Erik, CJ, Kathy and Kara. The kids all received lots of presents. Juliana was still not feeling great, but made it through the afternoon.
