Kennywood - June 2009

We went to Kennywood today - the weather was beautiful and the park was not crowded - short lines for most of the rides. The boys were with us, but their only ride was in the stroller. Juliana went on a few rides in Kiddyland and was bored...she is into the big rides now. The Paratrouper, Kangaroo, and Whip are favorites from last year. Last year she was so excited for a big rollercoaster but did not enjoy the Jack Rabbit. This time she loved it! She wanted to go on a water ride so Scott took her on the Raging Rapids...she did not love that. The best part of the ride was that the water washed the chocolate ice cream out of her hair.

And Finally - the Big Whip

Another big kid ride and a favorite as well. She rode twice, once with Mommy and then again with Daddy as the last ride before leaving the Park for the night. When she went on with me earlier that afternoon, we were saying, "1-2-3-GOOOO!" as it was about to make the whip at each end. I was standing along the rail at the end watching Scott and Juliana and at the first turn I could hear her yelling, "GOOOO!"

More Kennywood - Jack Rabbit and Kiddie Land

Juliana is tall enough to ride the Jack Rabbit this year. We have been talking about riding on the bit roller coaster for weeks and she was very excited to go on it. She waited in the long line and hopped on the ride with Mommy. We buckled up and down the first hill. She didn't cry, but she seemed a bit alarmed. When we reached the end she said, "Is the Jack Rabbit over? I don't want to ride this again." Apparently it was too bumpy - she prefers the smooth metal coasters over the wooden... Here is her picture leaving the Jack Rabbit.

Only 2 times on the Merry-Go-Round this trip (although she would have happily rode it more).

We spent a very short time in Kiddie Land this year since she was so interested in the big kid rides. She did ride the Spaceship and the Little Whip.

Kennywood - First "Big Kid Ride"

We went to Kennywood on Saturday and Juliana measured in at 39"; over the 36" mark for riding many of the "big kid rides". The first ride of the day was the Paratrooper which Juliana named the "Sugar Puff ride". Scott and Juliana rode on the one of the tan cars the first time. She loved it and was so excited to be on a big kid ride!

More from Kennywood

A few more pictures from our Sept visit to Kennywood. Flying by on the Whip and sitting quietly at the end of the ride; riding the Little Phantom coaster; hanging out with Papa, and riding the Tiger. All day she wanted to ride the Tiger on the big Merry-Go-Round. Finally - the 5th time, the Tiger was free and then she went back on for a 6th time and rode the Tiger again with Daddy.

Learning her name and Negiotiations

Juliana is finally able to pronounce her name. Now that she can say her full first name - Juliana - I decided that she should learn the rest of her name. If you ask her what her name is now, she will answer "Ana Gace". Or occasionally "Ann Gace Conny" - not bad.

The art of negotiating. We have a set group of toys that live in her crib so that when she wakes up in the morning she can entertain herself until it is officially time to get up. Since she sleeps with her baby doll (covered up next to her) we keep Bitty's bottles in the crib as well. Most mornings she is feeding Bitty when I come to get her.

This morning she was jumping - another favorite early morning activity - when I went to get her. When I reached in to pick her up she grabbed Bitty and then yelled, "bottles". I stated that we didn't need the bottles because it was time to get ready for shcool. She stopped and looked and me; then slowly raised one finger and smiled, saying "1 bottle". She asked so nicely and it seemed like a reasonable request, so 1 bottle came out of the crib with Bitty.

We went to Kennywood this past Saturday and she had so much fun! A total of 7 rides on the big Merry-Go-Round. Nana, Papa, Nonni, Mommy and Daddy all took turns going on the Merry-Go-Round. Here's one picture, more coming soon.

Kennywood - Riding the Whip

Juliana had so much fun on the rides at Kennywood! On the whip, she rode with a friend that she met in line. Every time that she went around she laughed and laughed.
